Terms of Service

1. Data provided as-is

All data available through the xfinlink API is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied. xfinlink makes no guarantees regarding data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or availability. There is no service-level agreement (SLA).

2. Not financial advice

xfinlink provides raw financial data for informational and research purposes only. Nothing provided by xfinlink constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. You are solely responsible for any decisions made using data obtained from the API.

3. License grant

Your subscription tier determines what you may do with data retrieved from the xfinlink API ("the Data").

Free and Pro (individual license). We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Data for your own analysis, research, and internal applications. One person, one account. You may not share your API key or make the Data available to anyone else.

Max (company license, internal use). We grant the single legal entity that holds the subscription a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Data internally: employees and contractors of that entity may access the Data through the entity's API keys for internal analysis, research, tooling, and decision-making. "Internal" means the Data is not displayed, delivered, or otherwise made available to anyone outside the subscribing entity — including customers, clients, or users of the entity's products.

Redistribution (company license, end-user delivery). Everything in the Max license, plus: the subscribing entity may display and deliver Data values to end users of its own products and services (websites, apps, dashboards, reports), subject to the carve-outs in section 4. This license covers serving Data within your product experience. It does not permit wholesale resale of the Data as a dataset, operating a competing data API, or sublicensing redistribution rights to third parties.

All tiers: the license lasts as long as your subscription is active and in good standing. Data cached or stored during the subscription must not be redistributed after the subscription ends (Redistribution tier: end-user delivery rights end when the subscription ends).

4. Prohibited use

Regardless of tier, you may not:

• Redistribute, resell, sublicense, or publicly publish the Data except as expressly permitted by your tier's license in section 3.
• Redistribute entity-reference output. Output of the /v1/resolve, /v1/search, and /v1/index endpoints — entity identifiers, ticker-to-entity mappings, entity name/alias records, and universe listings — is licensed for your internal use only, on every tier including Redistribution. You may use these endpoints to look up and link entities inside your systems; you may not expose their output to end users, publish it, or use it to build or improve any entity-reference, symbology, or security-master product.
• Share API keys outside the subscribing legal entity. Max and Redistribution keys may be used by employees and contractors of the subscribing entity only; a subscription may not be split across, or operated on behalf of, multiple entities.
• Use the Data to train systems designed to reproduce or substitute for the xfinlink API.
• Circumvent, probe, or overload rate limits, quotas, or access controls, including by rotating keys, accounts, or IP addresses.
• Misrepresent xfinlink data as your own primary-source data. (Attribution is not required for Redistribution-tier end-user display, but false provenance claims are prohibited.)

If your use case does not fit these licenses (bulk dataset delivery, OEM embedding, competing-product licensing), contact hello@xfinlink.com — some of these can be covered by a custom agreement.

5. Enforcement

xfinlink monitors usage patterns for compliance with these terms. Violation may result in:

• Immediate revocation of your API key without prior notice.
• Permanent suspension of your account.
• For paid subscriptions terminated due to a violation: the subscription will be cancelled immediately. A prorated refund may be issued at xfinlink's sole discretion for the unused portion of the current billing period. No refund will be issued for prior billing periods.
• Legal action for damages in the event of unauthorised data redistribution or systematic data theft, including but not limited to the cost of data acquisition, lost revenue, and legal fees.

We may embed inert, traceable markers in API responses to detect unauthorized redistribution. Detection of Data or entity-reference output redistributed outside the scope of section 3 is grounds for immediate suspension and legal action.

6. Rate limiting and access

xfinlink may rate limit, throttle, or suspend access to the API at any time, for any reason, without prior notice. Repeated abuse of rate limits may result in temporary or permanent blocking.

7. Free tier subject to change

The current free tier limits (requests per hour, unique tickers per day, date range caps) may be modified at any time. xfinlink will make reasonable efforts to communicate changes but is not obligated to do so in advance.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, xfinlink shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the API, including but not limited to financial losses based on data obtained from the service.

9. Changes to terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the API after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
