1. Who this is between

When this licence says "we" or "us", it means xfinlink. "You" means the person or business using the data. If you sign up for a business, the business holds the account, and you're confirming that you can agree to this licence on its behalf.

A few parts below mention consumers. You're a consumer if you use xfinlink mainly for personal reasons rather than for a trade, business or profession.

This licence covers how you can use the data. Our Terms of Service cover your account, billing and the service itself. If the two disagree about the data, this licence wins, and a separate agreement you've signed with us wins over both.

You agree to this licence when you tick the box at sign-up or checkout. We may move it to a company we set up to run xfinlink, and we'll let you know if we do.

2. The plans

A higher plan includes everything a lower plan allows.

Free. Personal, non-commercial use, such as learning, coursework, academic research and your own projects. Non-commercial means you aren't making money from it and it isn't for a business, so Free doesn't cover work for clients. Free is also for trying xfinlink out, including for a company you work for before the company buys a plan. That's a short trial of up to 30 days to help you decide, not a way to do real work.

Pro. One person, for their own use. That includes your own freelance or professional work, where the data helps you do the job, and reports for your clients, as explained below. If you're using the data for a company you work for, the company needs Max. Selling things built from the data to the public needs Redistribution.

Max. A business, its staff and its contractors, for the business's own internal use and for reports for its clients. Contractors may use the data only for work they do for you, and you're responsible for everyone you let use it. Selling things built from the data to the public needs Redistribution.

Redistribution. Everything in Max, plus selling things built from the data to the public, and showing the data itself to the people who use your own products, such as your app, website or dashboard. That includes public pages. Redistribution is for showing the data on screen, so you can't hand it over as files, downloads, exports or a data feed.

Client work and selling

A report you make for one client, as part of a service you provide them, is client work. Pro and Max cover it. The report can contain your own charts, analysis and conclusions, and quote up to 100 numbers from the data. Giving anyone the raw data itself, such as tables or files of our numbers, isn't covered by any plan, and that includes a client. It needs a custom agreement, so email hello@xfinlink.com to ask for one.

Selling means offering something built from the data to the public for money, such as a paid newsletter, research or reports sold to the public, a signals or alerts subscription, or model outputs for sale. Selling needs Redistribution.

Not sure which plan you need? A report for one client is a service, and Pro and Max cover it. A product sold to the public is selling, and needs Redistribution, as does an app or site that shows our numbers to its users.

3. What every plan can do

Every plan lets you do the following, though on Free only for non-commercial purposes. Selling what you make to the public needs Redistribution.

  • Analyse the data.
  • Build models and run backtests.
  • Publish your own charts, research and results.
  • Quote up to 100 numbers from the data in an article, post or report.
  • Use the data with your own AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, through our MCP server or by pasting it in.

4. What no plan allows

These are off limits on every plan.

  • Reselling, sharing or publishing the raw data itself, such as tables, files or downloads. Quoting up to 100 numbers, and showing data on screen under Redistribution, are the exceptions.
  • Building a data product or API that competes with xfinlink.
  • Sharing your API key with anyone your plan doesn't cover.
  • Scraping our site, or getting around rate limits and other limits.
  • Training a general-purpose AI model, such as a large language model, on the data, or uploading whole datasets into AI tools that train on what you give them.
  • Showing index membership lists or other reference data, such as identifier mappings and classifications, publicly or to your users. They're for your internal use. Labelling numbers with a company's name and ticker is always fine.

5. AI tools

You can use the data with your own AI assistant on any plan. Training your own models on it, like a model that helps you pick trades, counts as building models, so that's fine as well.

On Max and Redistribution, please use AI tools that don't train on your inputs. Paid business and API plans from the major providers work that way by default.

6. When your plan ends

Stop using the raw data you downloaded under the plan, and delete it and any copies within 30 days. A cleaned or reformatted copy still counts as the data. Everything you made from it is yours to keep, including charts, research, models and results.

Moving to a lower plan works the same way, except that you can keep the data the lower plan would give you anyway and carry on using it under that plan's rules.

7. Refunds

Paid plans come with a 14-day money-back guarantee. Email hello@xfinlink.com within 14 days of subscribing and we'll refund you in full.

Asking for a refund ends the plan. Within 7 days, delete the data you got under it and email us to say it's done. If you're a business, we pay the refund once you've confirmed. If you're a consumer, we don't hold the refund back while we wait, though we still ask you to delete the data.

Consumers also keep any legal right they have to cancel within 14 days and get their money back. This guarantee never takes that away.

8. If something goes wrong

If you use the data in a way your plan doesn't cover, we'll get in touch and ask you to stop, or to move to the plan that does cover it. Usually that sorts it out. If the misuse is serious or keeps happening, we may suspend or close your account, and if we close it, section 6 applies to the data you hold.

9. Our data and responsibility

We provide the data as it is. We work hard on accuracy, but we can't guarantee that every number is right or that the service is always available. When we correct a mistake, past values can change, so a figure you downloaded last month may look different today.

Nothing from xfinlink is investment advice, and we're not responsible for trading or investment losses. Our total liability to you is capped at what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

None of this limits anything the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you're a consumer, you keep your statutory rights.

S&P 500, Nasdaq-100 and Dow Jones Industrial Average are trademarks of their owners, and xfinlink isn't affiliated with or endorsed by them.

10. Changes

We may update this licence from time to time, and the current version is always at xfinlink.com/licensing/agreement.

11. Law

The law of England and Wales governs this licence, and the courts of England and Wales handle disputes about it. If you're a consumer, you keep the protections of the law where you live and can use your local courts.

12. Contact

Questions about this licence? Email hello@xfinlink.com. If you need something the plans don't cover, such as bulk data or a custom arrangement, get in touch and we'll talk it through.
